What is Sound Healing?
Sound Healing is the use of sound to create balance and alignment in: the physical body, the energy centers called “chakras”, and/or the etheric fields. The sound may be applied by an instrument or by the human voice. Sound Healing is a vibrational therapy and can be understood as being energy medicine. Using sound to project the appropriate resonance frequency of that part of the body which is vibrating out of harmony back into the body, assisting it to return to its natural frequency and return to a state of health. What happens in a session?
You will be sitting or laying down in a comfortable space to receive different sounds and tones which are selected for your body and being appropriate for that moment. Hands on energy work may also take place. The sounds and tones can take on the following forms:

How does sound healing work?
Sound healing appears to work according to the physics principles of resonance and entrainment. Intention also plays a big part in the transformation. Everything is energy As Einstein states, everything is energy from the chair we sit on our body; our body parts to our thoughts, beliefs and emotions we experience. Resonance is the natural vibration of an object - the specific frequency at which it vibrates. Sound is a form of energy. |
Sympathetic resonance
...is a harmonic phenomenon wherein a formerly passive string or vibratory body responds to external vibrations to which it has a harmonic likeness. The classic example is demonstrated with two similar tuning-forks of which one is mounted on a wooden box. When one tuning fork is struck, the other fork starts vibrating without having being struck. Entrainment If you have two vibrating objects with the same natural frequency or corresponding harmonic, they will both have a forced vibration affect on each other. This process, given time, normally leads to a condition where both objects automatically synchronize. Once complete synchronization has occurred both oscillators are able to vibrate with less energy. |
Sound + Intention = Healing
Jonathan Goldman is an international authority on sound healing and a pioneer in the field of harmonics. He came up with this formula after researching many different sound healing systems around the world. They were all so different in terms of the frequencies used and how they were applied, but they all worked. He discovered that the common thread was not only the sound that is produced but intention was the important ingredient. This is the formula I use. Not only does the sound I create have to 'resonate' with the person, but it is the intention of both myself and the receiver of the sound that is the transformational ingredient. |

"The ancient mystery schools which existed thousands of years ago in Rome, Athens, Egypt, India, China and Tibet had vast knowledge of the power of sound to heal. The various writings which have survived from those times indicate that in those schools, the use of sound as a therapeutic tool, was a highly developed spiritual science, based upon an understanding that vibration was the fundamental creative force of the universe.
The power of sound to create form and shape matter has been scientifically proven. In fact, here’s a quote from the NY Times Science Section: 'Sound shaped into dazzling new tool—can make, break or rearrange molecular structure and levitate objects.'" |

"Tuning forks appear to work therapeutically according to the physics principles of resonance and entrainment. Initially they resonate with whatever distortion or dysfunction is present in the body and its field, and then, through the production of a stronger, more coherent frequency, they entrain the body into a more coherent expression as well.
Since everything in the body is in motion, and everything in motion produces pressure waves into the surrounding environment, it makes sense that there is actually an acoustic field of inaudible sound around each individual. Most people have had the experience of getting a “bad vibe” off of someone. The overtones and undertones produced by the tuning forks interface, like sonar, with these acoustic emanations of the body and act as a sort of “invisible ink decoder” to locate areas of noise in the signal. These pockets of noise are held like nodes or eddies in the standing waves contained within the biofield and may relate to experiences of physical, mental or emotional stress from any point in our lifetimes. When the corresponding signal of noise in the body due to a dysfunctional system can be located in the field, the precise application of sound – which may be as far as five or more feet away from the body – can cause the body to self-regulate out of the noise and into a more harmonious expression. While it’s not possible to provide any guarantees, the outcome of this targeted sonic-induced relaxation can be immediate and profound, reducing anxiousness, discomfort, and other distresses right on the table, with other benefits unfolding in the days following a session. Results can be both short term as well as long term and even permanent. The effects of multiple sessions are cumulative and a minimum of three sessions is generally recommended but not required.'' |
